Recently Congress passed ethics legislation designed to clean up the bad habits of its members, provide more transparency in making earmarks and bar members from accepting gifts, meals or trips from lobbyists. No doubt, at least some of the “reforms” are a step in the right direction.
But many are still questioning whether the most recent Congressional effort goes far enough. According to Peter Sepp, Vice President of Communications for the National Taxpayers Union, the answer is “not yet,” noting crucial and far-reaching important reforms that are still needed.
Recently, Mr. Sepp joined CFIF Corporate Counsel & Senior Vice President Renee Giachino to discuss the reforms, Congressional pensions and what more Congress can and should do to curb its Members’ ethical transgressions.
