Image of the Day: Record One-Year Income Rise in 2019

From the U.S. Census Bureau, median household income rose by 6.8% in 2019 - a record one-year increase - to a record high of $68,700.  Notably, under the supposed racist President Donald Trump, those 2019 income gains were largest for minority groups.  And since 2016, median income has risen 9.7%, which is fantastic news for Americans, even if it might be bad news for leftists in their disinformation campaign:

31 Tale of Two Tribes: 'Climate Refugees' vs. EPA Victims

The left has concocted a lucrative category of politically correct victims: "climate refugees." It's the new Green racket. U.S. taxpayers will now be forking over untold billions to ease the pain allegedly inflicted on "carbon's casualties" by industrial activity. By contrast, those who have suffered as a direct result of government…

32 New Poll Underscores the “Political Science” of Climate Change

The climate is changing. It’s true. Earth’s climate has always changed and global warming was a prerequisite for the growth and expansion of human civilization. So it’s disappointing to learn that only 70 percent of Americans believe the climate is changing. That’s according to a new Monmouth University poll, which has more…

33 Climate Talks Reveal Progressivism's True Hypocrisy

What do you call it when elites fly their private jets to an international climate change conference to forge a deal with despots that caps American prosperity without our consent? You call it progressivism. It's estimated that 50,000 carbon-spewing humans participated in the Paris climate conference. But while President Barack Obama was taking his…

34 Another Global Warming Projection Fails, But Obama Digs In

"The streak survives.  For the 10th year running, Florida dodged a hurricane, setting a new record, while the rest of the eastern seaboard escaped a hit by a major hurricane."  So announced the Miami Herald this week under the headline "Florida Sets Record:  10 Years Without a Hurricane."  Another day, another…

35 10 Years After Katrina, Failed Global Warming Prophecies Accumulate

Like so much flotsam and jetsam, failed global warming prophecies accumulate a decade after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast.  Columnist George Will wryly recounts the words of Leon Trotsky biographer Isaac Deutscher, who solemnly said of Trotsky at an event that Will infiltrated as an Oxford student, "Proof of Trotsky's farsightedness…

36 What Is Obama's Top Population-Control Freak Hiding?

The most transparent administration in American history is at it again — dodging sunlight and evading public disclosure. Joining former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her secret servers, former IRS witch hunt queen Lois Lerner and her secret email accounts, former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and her Internet alter egos, and former…

37 Obama's Toxic Environmental Pollution Agency

Here in my adopted home state of Colorado, orange is the new Animas River thanks to the blithering idiots working under President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency. It's just the latest man-caused disaster from an out-of-control bureaucracy whose primary mission is not the Earth's preservation, but self-preservation. As always, the government…

38 Obama's Climate Hubris

This week, President Obama is hailing his Clean Power Plan as "the single most important step America has ever taken in the fight against global climate change." Obama is posing as the environment's savior, just as he did in 2008, when he promised his presidency would mark "the moment when ... the rise of the oceans began to slow and…

39 How Climate Alarmists — and Some Skeptics — Misuse and Abuse Pope Francis

Pope Francis’s new encyclical, Laudato Si, was supposed to be all about climate change — wasn’t it? From the moment the Vatican put out word in December that the Holy Father was keenly interested in the question of environmental protection, particularly the United Nations meeting on climate change in Paris later this year, the mainstream…

40 Holy Hypocrisy and Hot Air

Unlike Pope Francis, I believe that air-conditioning and the capitalists responsible for the technology are blessings to the world. Perhaps the head of the Catholic Church, who condemned "the increasing use and power of air-conditioning" last week in a market-bashing encyclical, is unaware of the pioneering private company that has donated…

41 A New Inconvenient Truth: Antarctic Ice Levels Reach Record High

For global warming alarmists, the inconvenient truths just keep accumulating.  The unintentional humor served up by their increasingly desperate rationalizations provides one of the more enjoyable byproducts of that process.  For sheer comedic treasure in that regard, it's difficult to beat the far-left Daily Kos.  A headline this…

42 Activist Demands Imprisonment for “Climate-Change Liars”

When one side in a policy debate begins advocating imprisonment for opponents, it tends to suggest that side is losing on the substantive merits, not winning.  Case in point:  the ongoing man-made climate change debate.  Stop us if this sounds familiar, but the United Nations just issued yet another report alleging that anthropogenic…

43 Global Cooling? Great Lakes Experiencing Deepest Freeze in 25 Years

Want to stump a global warming alarmist?  Just ask him to describe how the Great Lakes were originally formed.  At over 94,000 square miles, the Great Lakes constitute the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth, and possess fully 21% of its surface fresh water.  Lake Superior alone is the world’s largest continental lake,…

44 The Elusive Apocalypse: Global Warming’s Doomsday Keeps Getting Delayed

Harold Camping is one of those figures who embodies Andy Warhol’s dictum that, “in the future, everyone will be world famous for fifteen minutes.” If Camping’s name sounds vaguely familiar, it’s because the radio evangelist briefly garnered national headlines a few years ago with his prediction that the world would come…

45 The Imperial Presidency Goes Green

Three words from Barack Obama’s presidency sum up the President’s casual relationship with constitutional law: “We can’t wait.” That was the tag line used as the theme for the White House’s policy agenda beginning back in the autumn of 2011. Had it simply been a rallying cry for the public to pressure members of…

46 N.Y. Times Concedes on Global Warming

With tornadoes in the news lately, here’s a timely gem from the climate change hysteria vault.  On April 28, 1975, Newsweek ran an article entitled “The Cooling World” that blamed global cooling for “the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded.”  It’s worth quoting at length, to note the conspicuous…

47 “A Sensitive Matter” – Flat Temperatures Flummox Climate Scientists

“Over the past 15 years, air temperatures at the Earth’s surface have been flat, while greenhouse-gas emissions have continued to soar.  The world added roughly 100 billion tonnes of carbon to the atmosphere between 2000 and 2010.  That is about a quarter of all the CO2 put there by humanity since 1750.  And yet, as James…

48 Reefer Madness: The Obama Team at Sea

From oysters in California to red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico, federal regulators acting in the name of the environment are actually harming both the environment and human interests. Is it any wonder why so many people think federal government involvement in most areas of life is far worse than no federal involvement at all? Let’s start with…

49 Another Blowout in Eco Suit Against Chevron

Enough is enough is enough. It’s long past time for the Obama administration, just once, to actually stand up for the interests of a U.S. corporation against the ravages of foreign, left-wing shakedowns. A Fortune Mag/CNN Money article out this week reports the latest, overwhelming evidence of horrendous skullduggery in a long-running environmental…

50 Inconvenient Truth: Antarctic Sea Ice Grows to Record Size

Last month, we noted that 2012 data shows that global temperatures stopped warming 16 years ago.  As reported by Britain’s Daily Mail, data from over 3,000 worldwide measuring sites on both land and sea “reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.”&…

51 Global Temperatures Stopped Rising 16 Years Ago, According to 2012 Data

Following this week’s presidential debate, CNN moderator Candy Crowley conceded that Mitt Romney had been correct on substance during his celebrated confrontation over Libya with Barack Obama.  Crowley went on to lament that time constraints prevented her from introducing other audience questions, specifically emphasizing “global…

52 U.S. Green Building Council: An Unchecked Taxpayer-Supported Monopoly

Something called the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) enjoys de facto authority over government green building standards.  Many would be surprised, however, to learn that it is not a government agency.  Rather, the USGBC is a non-profit environmental advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., that sets the standards for the Leadership…

53 Time to Punish Ecuador’s Stock in Trade

For years, now, I have been arguing that Ecuador’s horrendous maltreatment of the California-based Chevron Corp. merited not just victories for Chevron in courts of law and the court of public opinion, but also a change in U.S. trade policy vis-à-vis that nation’s left-wing regime. As far back as 2008, members of Congress…

54 America’s Energy Future: Scarcity or Abundance?

The American left is uncomfortable with affluence. In the zero-sum world of liberalism, one person’s gain is always perceived to come at another’s expense. So it is that when the conversation turns to the consumption of natural resources, the default assumption of the liberally inclined (particularly among radical environmentalists) is…

55 Blaming “Oil Speculators” Is Like Scapegoating Gamblers for the Super Bowl Result

Gasoline cost $1.84 per gallon in January 2009 when Barack Obama entered the White House.  Today, that cost has more than doubled to almost $4.00 per gallon.  In fact, U.S. News observed this month that gas prices have increased even more under Obama than under Jimmy Carter, he of late-‘70s gas line infamy:  “Obama has…

56 Transparently Corrupt: Links between Obama’s Campaign Donors, Stimulus, and Energy Loans

Multiple independent investigations into the Obama Energy Department’s failed loan program reveal a pattern of corruption involving 2008 campaign bundlers, stimulus funds and sweetheart loan deals.  The reports confirm the suspicion that Solyndra’s $535 million boondoggle was only the tip of the iceberg.  The Role of Bundlers…

57 EPA’s New Rule Kills Coal, Makes Natural Gas King

Move over, Steven Chu and the Department of Energy.  The Environmental Protection Agency’s Lisa Jackson wants a crack at being the Obama Administration’s latest energy sector dictator. Recently, Energy Secretary Chu distanced himself from remarks he made in 2008 that “somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline…

58 Obama Ignores Scandal of Bogus Oil Case

The Obama administration’s animus against American energy companies doesn’t stop at the water’s edge. As the administration continues to stifle domestic fossil-fuels production on a number of fronts, it also refuses to lift a finger diplomatically to support an American company being shaken down for billions of dollars by the hard…

59 Obama’s "Cold Fusion" Presidency

In 1989, two scientists named Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons turned the world on its ear with the announcement that they had pioneered "cold fusion," a process by which it was hoped that mankind would usher in a new era of clean, cheap and abundant energy. There was only one problem: It didn’t work. Scientific researchers were…

60 Obama Plays Politics with America's Energy Future

After three years of waging a war to shut down America’s domestic energy producers of petroleum and coal, President Barack Obama has now refused to approve the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the United States, sacrificing thousands of jobs and millions in economic activity, all to shore up his liberal base at the expense of the rest of the…

"As a thriller novelist, I expect to be terrified by the scenarios I explore. With bioweapons, terrorist attacks, and loose nukes as my daily companions, it takes a lot to get a rise out of me. But in researching my new book, 'Total Power,' I stumbled upon what I now believe to be America's greatest weakness: Our electrical grid. It's been called the most complex machine in the world and that's probably…[more]
