So-Called "Railway Safety Act" Constitutes a Political Handout to Big Labor That Does Nothing to Improve Safety At All

America as we know it was built largely upon and because of our rail industry, and today it remains a pillar of our economy.

Unfortunately, a destructive proposal before Congress misleadingly named the "Railway Safety Act" (RSA), part of broader surface transportation reauthorization, threatens great harm to our railroads.

Simply put, the bill has nothing to do with improving safety, but has a lot to do with advancing the political agenda of Big Labor.  At a moment when inflation burdens American families and fragile supply chains remain vulnerable to disruption, the last thing our economy or rail sector need is another costly federal mandate imposed upon one of the nation’s most important transportation sectors.

As an initial matter, as noted by The Wall Street Journal, the…[more]

On President Joe Biden and Democratic Lie:

"Days of bravado from President Joe Biden combined with bullying by his closest adherents and crass careerism in the Democratic Party may be about to save the incumbent from being forcibly retired, as he should be.

"If he manages even a moderate performance during his scheduled Thursday press conference at the NATO meeting in Washington, D.C., it is possible that he will avoid the proper consequences of his embarrassing debate performance. But his survival, if it comes, should cost every Democrat the last shred of credibility, for it would require them to pretend not to see what every voter has seen -- that Biden is manifestly incapable of continuing to lead the country."

On Hunter Biden:

"Democrats trying to dislodge Joe Biden will first have to combat the proxy commander-in-chief, Hunter Biden -- and that's more easily said than done.

"With the Biden family digging in behind Joe staying put, any staffers or party grandees deputized to strong-arm Joe Biden out of being their candidate in November had better not underestimate the first son.

"While the focus has been on four-time Vogue cover girl Jill Biden and her screeching assurances that Joe is hale and hearty and fit for another four years, the first son has flown under the radar.

"But Hunter is glued to his father's side for a reason. He was with him at Camp David to help prepare for the disastrous debate; was there for the vainglorious Annie Leibovitz family photo shoot post-debate; then flew back with the president to the White House, where he has been ensconced ever since."

On Inflated Jobs Numbers:

"Did the economy create 206,000 jobs last month? That's what the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday. But don't believe it. Under President Joe Biden, the BLS has been consistently inflating monthly job growth numbers.

"It makes great public relations, because the press reports only on the initial estimate, and rarely follows up on the subsequent downgrades. But it does help explain why nobody believes Biden's -- and the mainstream media's -- propaganda about how great the labor market is doing.

"Last month, for example, BLS said that the economy created 272,000 jobs, which the media branded as 'whopping,' 'robust,' 'vigorous,' and a 'blowout.' Economists had expected 190,000 new jobs in May.

"But on Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics admitted that it had overestimated job gains in May by 20%, with the new figure just barely above economists' expectations. The change barely got a mention in the press."

On Marijuana Use and Auto Accident Fatalities:

"The recent trend toward greenlighting the use of marijuana is mystifying on myriad levels. Why ban cigarette smoke in restaurants but let outdoor dining be spoiled by marijuana smoke? Why accept a ubiquitous public stench that rivals the effects of building a sewage treatment plant or a pulp mill in the middle of a city? Yet perhaps the single most mystifying aspect of the recent acceptance of marijuana use has been the clash between such acceptance and longstanding concerns about impaired driving.

"Simply put, increased marijuana use has led to significantly more Americans being killed on our nation's roads -- as people are not only driving while stoned but driving while stoned and drunk. As we approach the week of July 4, when deaths from impaired driving tend to peak, Americans might want to ask themselves whether this is a price worth paying and what they're getting in return."

On Biden's Gaza Pier:

"The Gaza aid pier that President Joe Biden schemed up was always a ridiculous idea. It appears to now be reaching its predictable, pathetic conclusion.

"U.S. officials are considering not reinstalling the pier after removing it to protect it from the weather. After at least $320 million in taxpayer dollars being lit on fire, the pier is going to have been in use for a shorter period of time than it took to build it, having been taken down by the weather and the natural movement of water, which is normally not a great sign for a pier."

Reporting On Newly Released Transcripts Exposing the Motivations of Intelligence Officials Who Signed the Letter Labeling Reporting on the Hunter Biden Laptop as a Potential 'Russian Information Operation':

"Newly released transcripts of interviews with with eight of the intelligence officials who were among 51 signatories of the infamous letter labeling reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop as a potential 'Russian information operation' show the letter drafters were motivated by politics while freely admitting they had no hard evidence for the claims.

"The transcripts, which include interviews with former CIA Director Michael Morell, one of his key former deputies Marc Polymeropoulos, and former CIA Director John Brennan, show the behind the scenes maneuverings to publish the infamous letter which then-candidate Joe Biden used to deflect accusations against him stemming from the material found on his son's laptop."

On the Rare and Surprising Public Apology by the IRS:

"This week, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) made a rare and surprising move by issuing an apology to billionaire Ken Griffin. The apology was in response to the agency's leak of sensitive information about a group of wealthy Americans, including Griffin. This unexpected act of contrition stands out, as the IRS is not known for admitting wrongdoings or extending apologies, despite its reputation for corruption and incompetency."

Reporting On 'Squad' Member Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) Losing His Primary:

"Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D., N.Y.) became the first 'Squad' member to lose reelection, falling to Westchester County executive George Latimer in a race that largely centered on Bowman's intense hostility toward the Jewish state -- and Jewish voters in his district.

"Latimer led Bowman by 9 points with 51 percent of the vote reported when the Associated Press called the race just before 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

"Bowman's loss makes him the first member of the left-wing 'Squad' to lose reelection."

On the Presidential Debate and America's Fentanyl Crisis:

"Nothing proves that what goes around comes around like presidential debates. In their last meeting, Joe Biden gratuitously slammed Donald Trump for his Covid response. In their upcoming debate this Thursday, Trump should return the favor and remind viewers of the effects Biden's open-border policy has had on America's fentanyl crisis."

On Latino Battleground Voters and President Biden's Open Borders Policies:

"Turns out Latino voters don't behave like the caricatures that far-left Democrats created to justify their monstrous open-borders policies.

"Among battleground-state Latino voters, ex-prez Donald Trump and the GOP lead Joe Biden and the Democrats on who's more trusted on immigration, 41% to 38%.

"Hardly a shock: A new Siena poll shows that even in deep blue New York, 83% of all voters think the migrant influx to New York is a serious or somewhat serious issue; 91% of Latino voters feel the same way."

"The funniest thing about the Graham Platner (D) Senate campaign in Maine, aside from its forcing progressives into wildly unflattering rhetorical pretzels, is that it proves the moral panics over 'white supremacy' and 'toxic masculinity' were never sincere. They were only ever about smearing conservatives. For the last 11 years, activists in politics, news media, and academia have linked even the…[more]
