New TV Ad Encourages West Virginians to Urge Attorney General Darrell McGraw to Protect the State’s Sovereignty By Standing Up to Washington’s Power-Grabs
ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Center for Individual Freedom (“CFIF”) today launched a public education effort in West Virginia, which includes a new television ad urging West Virginia Attorney General Darrell McGraw to use his authority to stand up to Washington, D.C.’s power grabs that are hurting West Virginia families and intrude on the state’s sovereignty.
The ad, titled “Healthcare,” notes McGraw’s failure to join with nearly thirty other state attorneys general and public officials in challenging Washington’s new health care law. The ad, which can be viewed below, encourages West Virginians to call Attorney General McGraw and tell him to start standing up against Washington’s overreach.
This latest public education effort in West Virginia is part of CFIF’s broader State Sovereignty Project – the focus of which is a series of ongoing grassroots-focused communications designed to encourage governmental authorities closest to the people to reclaim and exercise the structural powers granted to them by the U.S. Constitution as a bulwark against federal encroachments on state sovereignty and erosion of the individual liberties of the people they serve.
“The U.S. Constitution not only provides for a system of checks and balances within the federal government, but also a check by the various states on the federal government,” said CFIF President Jeffrey Mazzella.
“The devastating impact that the federal government’s overreach – including the assaults on liberty and states’ rights represented in the Affordable Care Act, among other policies – is having on West Virginia’s economy and families make the state a prime case study on the need for state and local officials to exercise their constitutional authority to fight back against Washington’s excessive power grabs,” Mazzella continued.
