Washington, D.C. –The Center for Individual Freedom and its President, Jeffrey Mazzella, responded today to U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson’s ruling striking down the federal government’s individual mandate that everyone must buy health insurance. “Judge Henry Hudson’s ruling confirms what an overwhelming majority of Americans have believed all along: That the health care reform law passed by Congress and signed by the president is a direct assault on free-market principles and state's rights enshrined in our nation's constitution. This is one in a series of legal judgments rendered against such a reckless legislative overreach, and indicates that as perilous as this moment is for the law, its future will ideally meet an even more certain judgment of being overturned. CFIF is a non-profit organization with the mission to protect and defend individual freedoms and individual rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. It seeks to focus public, legislative and judicial attention on the rule of law as embodied in the federal and state constitutions.
