The RNC Speeches MSNBC Didn’t Want You to See

The utra-liberal anchors at MSNBC, led by Chris “I-feel-thrills-up-my-leg-when-Obama-speaks” Matthews, abandoned all sense of journalistic integrity long ago.  But they’ve stooped to new lows with their coverage of the Republican convention in Tampa, where they’ve ramped up their election-year campaign to label Republicans racist.

As Ed Morrisey put it over at Hot Air:

The cast and management at MSNBC really, really want their viewers — all 20 of them now, I believe — to understand that the Republican Party is raaaaaaaaaaaacist, and that the GOP convention is nothing more than a bunch of white men talking and applauding.  They are so desperate to sell their meme latent Republican racism that they simply averted their eyes every time a speaker that didn’t fit their lone talking point took the stage.

Matthews, Maddow and Co. not only averted their own eyes, they blacked out (oops, too insensitive?) cut their convention coverage almost every time a prominent Republican minority took the podium.

So on the off chance that you are one of the few people tuned into MSNBC for convention coverage, we herewith present you with several of the speeches MSNBC didn’t want you to see:

Media Announces Start of GOP 2012 Campaign

Like emaciated jackals hungry for fresh meat MSNBC’s political staff announced today that the GOP 2012 campaign is now underway.  The reason?  Mike Huckabee (R-AR) made the rather unsurprising link between Massachusetts’ individual mandate law passed under then-Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) and the almost identical requirement in ObamaCare.  Mitt’s “RomneyCare” problem has been so well documented it’s not worth a verifying hyperlink.

That said, the fact that Huckabee’s identifying of the main obstacle in Romney’s path to the GOP nomination is being treated like a campaign salvo is too much; especially since neither man has formally announced a candidacy.  At the earliest, it looks like Newt Gingrich might be the first to take the plunge sometime next month.  For now, MSNBC’s announcement is just the latest attempt to goad the pack of likely candidates into justifying a political reporter’s salary.

MSNBC Incapable of Detecting Satire
Posted by Print

In a recent Freedom Minute, we told you how MSNBC’s journalistic irresponsibility included an incident where Rachel Maddow falsely accused a Republican Congressman of having advance knowledge of the Oklahoma City bombing and failing to act. Apparently, Maddow’s show hasn’t added any fact-checkers since that earlier faux pas.

On last night’s broadcast, Maddow lit into a litany of conservative critics of President Obama’s Egypt policy. One of her targets, however, deserves special attention. According to the Atlantic Wire:

The Internet’s finest satirists hooked a big fish in the media world last night. In an embarrassing segment on her MSNBC show, Rachel Maddow slammed conservatives for attacking President Obama’s Egypt policies. Her targets included Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, former ambassador to the UN John Bolton and Stephenson Billings at ChristWire.org. Only problem is Stephenson Billings is not a real person. He’s a fictional byproduct of a website that also warns readers that the Xbox Kinect is a terrorist training tool and the Japanese have created scary robot babies which “threaten humanity.”

The article that caught Maddow’s eye called for an “American-led invasion” into Egypt and begged former Alaska governor Sarah Palin to lead the war cry.

“The escalating crisis in Egypt could become a defining moment for Sarah Palin,” Billings wrote. “Governor Palin needs to speak out publicly and forcibly for an American-led invasion to protect our interests in North Africa.”

It’s embarassing to see any supposedly mainstream news show get duped like this. But when a show as self-consciously snarky as Maddow’s can’t detect satire, it’s also a nice bit of poetic justice.

Reason TV Helps the Door Hit Keith Olbermann

The folks over at Reason.tv have a wicked sense of humor.  Their latest target is newly (and indefinitely) suspended pundit Keith Olbermann from MSNBC.  Apparently, all it took was $7,200 in near meaningless campaign donations to Democratic candidates to finally convince the network that Olbermann was too partisan to be on-air.

Here’s a sample of some his classic work:

CFIF’s OneMoreVote.org Campaign Featured in Politico’s “Playbook,” MSNBC’s “First Read” and The Hill’s “On The Money”

The Center for Individual Freedom yesterday lauched its OneMoreVote.org initiative designed to stop the reckless spending  in Washington.  The campaign was featured in Politico’s “Playbook, MSNBC’s “First Read” and The Hill’s “On the Money”:

Politico’s Playbook:

OUT TODAY: “The Center for Individual Freedom (CFIF) is announcing the launch of the ‘One More Vote’ campaign and website: OneMoreVote.org. The initiative is a grassroots-driven, online enlistment of activists across America focused on pressuring Congress and the administration to enact fundamental spending and budget reforms. … The One More Vote campaign name and concept is a nod to the Balanced Budget Amendment reform effort, a measure that fell just one vote short of passage. On Twitter: @OneMoreVoteCFIF.”

MSNBC’s First Read:

Per a source, “The Center for Individual Freedom (CFIF) is announcing the launch of the ‘One More Vote’ campaign and website: OneMoreVote.org. The initiative is a grassroots-driven, online enlistment of activists across America focused on pressuring Congress and the administration to enact fundamental spending and budget reforms.”

The Hill’s On the Money:

More from fiscal hawks this week…

The right-leaning Center for Individual Freedom launches on Tuesday the “One More Vote” campaign, seeking to require supermajorities in both the House and Senate for passage of any budget that projects a deficit, any tax hike and any debt limit increase. The name is a reference to the balanced budget amendment, which fell short of Senate passage by one vote in 1997.  http://bit.ly/9agHwr

Wait… So the Discovery Channel Gunman Wasn’t a Tea Partier?
Posted by Print

Imagine the excitement at MSNBC studios when word broke yesterday of a gunman threatening to detonate bombs and shoot people at the Discovery Channel studios in the Washington, D.C. area.  Surely, the violent nature of the vicious Tea Party was finally manifesting itself!  For months, MSNBC’s primetime lunatic lineup of Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow have ranted like Jack Nicholson’s character in The Shining falsely assuring us of the violent undercurrents within the Tea Party movement.

Quoting Thomas Jefferson?  Racism!  A rally in Washington, D.C.?  Inciting violence!

So imagine their thermonuclear reaction had yesterday’s Discovery Channel gunman in fact been a Tea Partier.  Instead, it turned out to be a dimestore Unabomber imitation who called babies “filthy human children” and drafted a manifesto remarkably similar to Al Gore’s Earth in the Balance.  Notably, he also reportedly made it a habit to aggressively antagonize peaceful anti-abortion demonstrators.  We won’t hold our breath awaiting MSNBC’s inquiry into the violent methods of the militant environmentalist movement.  Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of people behaving as well as a church picnic will surely continue to elicit pyrotechnics of paranoia from the MSNBC gang.

Wait… Aren’t Tea Partiers the Violent Ones?
Posted by Print

According to a Boston Herald report, a relative of murderous University of Alabama-Huntsville professor Amy Bishop described her as a far-left political extremist:

“A family source said Bishop, a mother of four children – the youngest a third-grade boy – was a far-left political extremist who was ‘obsessed’ with President Obama to the point of being off-putting.”

Admittedly, we cannot muster the gastrointestinal fortitude to continuously monitor the silly MSNBC triumvirate of Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, but weren’t the Tea Partiers the potentially violent political extremists, according to them?  The trio repeatedly manages to locate the proverbial needle-in-a-haystack Tea Party protester carrying a distasteful “Obama = Hitler” placard, and they constantly suggest a sinister proclivity toward violence amongst those who actually treasure the Tenth Amendment and concepts of federalism.

We certainly won’t hold our collective breath awaiting Matthews’s, Olbermann’s or Maddow’s hard-hitting expose on the danger of violence among “far-left political extremists,” even though that perfectly describes Lee Harvey Oswald himself.  But it might be a nice change of pace from their usual unicorn-chasing and suggestions that the Tea Party movement is merely cover for a return to slavery.

Keith Olbermann’s Goose War
Posted by Print

When Glenn Beck began to expose Van Jones, the “Green Jobs” Czar forced to resign from the Obama administration in the middle of a holiday weekend night, Color of Change, an organization founded by Van Jones, called for advertisers to boycott Beck’s Fox News Channel program.  Some have.

Now, Keith Olbermann is asking (at Daily Kos) for people to provide deleterious information about Beck, his producer and Roger Ailes, President of Fox.  Olbermann says that he will extend the request to his MSNBC audience tonight, making some kind of  what’s good for the goose is good for the gander argument.

Given that “goose” is not a euphemism that we would apply to Jones, nor “gander” to Beck, Mr. Olbermann seems to have forgotten that the really, really big “gander” a bit above his pay grade is General Electric, which owns MSNBC and makes more consumer products subject to boycott than just about any other corporation.

When you begin to see reruns of “Little House on the Prairie” mysteriously appear at 8 pm on MSNBC’s schedule, you may assume that adults at GE have decided that goose liver should not be among the company’s product mix.
